OFA’s 1st Annual Byron J. Gardner Memorial Field Meet
November 10-12, 2016
In 2016, OFA hosted the first annual Byron J. Gardner Memorial Field Meet in Umatilla, Oregon. Over 50 falconers, friends, and family from Oregon, Washington, and Idaho attended. It was a very successful meet! Click here to see the President’s Summary with great photos and details of the meet.

The weathering yard was the place to be with more 15 longwings, 7 Goshawks, and 3 Harris’s Hawks heading out in hunting parties throughout the 3 days. The access to land was only surpassed by access to game. Many great chases as parties flushing bunnies soon found quail and pheasant coming up – and their hawks chasing them! Game pins were giving out during the Banquet to the following:
• Owens Hill: bunny with her tiercel buteoides goshawk
• Patrick Rummans: quail and pheasant with his female albidus goshawk
• Wayne Skankey: duck with his tiercel peregrine
• Mike Syring: jackrabbit with his new female Harris’s Hawk
• Troy Taylor: bunny with his female Harris’s Hawk
• Bob Welle: two bunnies with his tiercel goshawk
